After many years in the construction and design industry, Katie understands strong relationships are at the core of everything we do for our interior design clients. That’s why our team aims to create a positive experience built on transparency and trust.
With more than 18 years of experience in the building industry, we also understand the construction process and the tools to make a build successful. It’s a unique skill set for an interior designer, but it creates a transformative experience for clients and contractors alike.
Since 2020, we’ve had our boots on the ground at construction sites across the upper midwest, making sure project contractors, architects, builders, and other project collaborators are all working together to build strong working relationships and seeing our clients’ visions come to fruition.
Most importantly, we want our clients’ experience to be exceptional, which is why we establish open, honest communication from the foundation to the finishing touches.
CEO, Interior Designer
Katie is the founder, owner and interior designer at Katie Kern Interior Design. After graduating from North Dakota State University with a degree in Interior Design, Katie gained 18+ years of experience working at a boutique design firm in Minneapolis, MN, and later as the lead designer for a builder in Fargo. When Katie is not designing, she enjoys spending time at the lake or on the ski hills with her husband, Matt, and daughters Charlie and Elin.
Operations/Design Assistant
Carissa is our operations and design assistant. She assists with day-to-day operational tasks, attends client meetings and helps with installs. Carissa has always enjoyed interior design and enjoys helping Katie create fresh, inviting spaces. Outside of work, Carissa enjoys spending time on the water with her husband, Patrick, and daughter Zahra.
